  1. Getting In

The building is inaccessible via the front entrance which is approached by a flight of nine steps. It would not be possible to make this entrance accessible without making radical (and unacceptable) alterations to the listed fabric.

There is a ramp in the modern extension at the back, which gives level access to the Sportsman bar in the basement, as well as access to a goods hoist.

A platform lift is also provided at a side entrance.

'You can get a fob for Teviot inside lift by asking for one at the reception. You just need to fill in a form, and you can keep the fob for a whole term (and then renew it if you still need it...).' [quoted from Muriel Masson on the Disability Web Forum 28 April 2004]

  1. Getting Around

A lift is provided giving access to all principal floors.

The facilities noted were as follows:

Ground floor. Entrance foyer, with level access to the shop, bank and entrance to the upper level of the library. Two circular staircases serving the first and second floors.

Mezzanine. The refectory is a large space, entered off a half landing. This has a modern extension at the back fronting onto the lane between Teviot Row House and the Pharmacology Building on George Square.

First floor. There are various facilities, principally the Teviot Room (bar) as well as various meeting rooms and dining rooms.
